Drain prices are for a single-family home with an accessible cleanout, with the camera run from the house to the property line. Priced separately: access through a pulled toilet or roof vent when there is no cleanout, sonde locating of the line, and any excavation.
Larger jobs — renovations, installs, backwater valves, sump pumps — are quoted as a fixed price upfront after a quick assessment, not billed hourly. Request a free estimate. Inspections are different: camera work, leak detection and pre-purchase reports are billed at the rates above, because what you get is the findings and the footage, not a quote. If you go ahead with the repair, the inspection fee comes off your invoice.
Plumbing Through The Toronto Year
Most of the calls we get in January and April were avoidable in October and March. None of this needs a plumber — it needs twenty minutes and a note in your calendar.
Disconnect every hose. A hose left on a tap traps water in the line, that water freezes, and the split usually shows up inside the wall rather than outside where you can see it. If you have an interior shut-off for the outdoor tap, close it and open the tap outside to drain the run. This one job prevents more burst-pipe calls than everything else on this list combined.
Pour a bucket of water into the pit and watch. The pump should start on its own, drop the level and shut off cleanly. If it hesitates, cycles twice, or runs on after the water is gone, the float or the check valve is going. Finding that in November costs a service call. Finding it during the first spring storm costs a basement.
Walk the outside of the house while the snow is going. Downspouts should carry water at least two metres from the foundation, not into a splash pad that drains straight back against the wall. Grade should fall away from the house. Most “my basement leaks” calls in spring are surface water that was invited in, not a plumbing failure at all — and the fix costs nothing but an afternoon.
Find the main water shut-off, turn it fully closed and open again once a year so it does not seize, and make sure everyone in the house knows where it is. When a line lets go, the difference between a wet floor and a destroyed ceiling is the ninety seconds it takes someone to find that valve. Do it on a calm Sunday, not at two in the morning.
None of the above needs us. If something on the list looks wrong when you check it — a seized shut-off, a pump that hesitates, water where it should not be — that is when a service call is worth $170 rather than a flooded basement worth several thousand.

About Us
Ankor Ltd. Plumbing Service GTA started in 2013, when our founder left the plumbing company he'd worked for to go out on his own — servicing the same residential buildings he'd already been maintaining for years. He didn't have to go looking for clients. Those buildings followed him and asked him to keep taking care of their properties. That's the entire origin story: no marketing budget, just people who trusted the work enough to bring it with him.
Clients sometimes spell our name “Anchor Plumbing” — either way, you have found the right company. It's still very much a family business today — his wife, daughter and son all play an active role, from booking jobs and answering calls to helping out on-site. All of our plumbers are fully licensed and insured, bringing years of hands-on experience to every residential and commercial project we take on.

City of Toronto Rebate
The City of Toronto's Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program reimburses homeowners for eligible flood-prevention work — including the exact backwater valve and sump pump installations we do every week. We handle the licensed installation, take out the building permit and meet the inspector ourselves — the permit is a condition of the subsidy, and it is the part most homeowners get stuck on. The rest of the paperwork is straightforward and we're happy to walk you through it.
Rates set by the City of Toronto and subject to annual Council approval — verify current details at toronto.ca before applying. Homeowners outside Toronto should check their local municipality for similar programs.
