Clearing a drain is the easy part. The useful part is knowing whether the line will hold — and on older Toronto sewers, that is not something anyone can tell you from the top of the stairs.
Wipes, roots that have just started, a grease plug from the kitchen line. The machine goes in, the line opens, water runs away properly and that is the end of it. Most calls are this — and for most of them the price on this page is the price you pay.
A line that blocks every few months is not being blocked, it is narrowed. Grease and scale line the pipe wall, a snake punches a hole through the middle, and the wall closes back over. Hydro-jetting scours it back to full bore instead. That is the difference between a fix and a subscription.
Sometimes the pipe is broken, sagged or crushed and no amount of clearing will hold. A camera run tells you which case you are in before you spend money twice — and if the answer is excavation, we mark the exact spot and depth rather than guessing where to dig.
An accessible cleanout in the basement is the normal case. No cleanout means access through a pulled toilet or the roof vent, and that is quoted separately. Same for sonde locating, hydro-jetting and any digging — all of it is agreed with you before anyone starts.

About Us
Ankor Ltd. has been working across Toronto since 2013. The company started when our founder left the firm he worked for and the residential buildings he had been maintaining asked him to keep looking after them — which is why a family-sized crew ended up servicing apartment buildings alongside houses. In Toronto that mix is exactly right: the same week can take us from a century home on the Danforth to a mechanical room downtown.
It is still a family business. Calls are answered by our office rather than a call centre, the plumber who quotes the job is the one who does it, and the price is agreed before anything is opened up. Every plumber is licensed and insured, we carry WSIB coverage, and we take out the permits and meet the inspectors on the work that needs them.
City of Toronto Rebate
The City of Toronto's Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program reimburses homeowners for eligible flood-prevention work — including the exact backwater valve and sump pump installations we do every week. We handle the licensed installation, take out the building permit and meet the inspector ourselves — the permit is a condition of the subsidy, and it is the part most homeowners get stuck on. The rest of the paperwork is straightforward and we're happy to walk you through it.
